When to Get a Spray Tan
Before Your Big Event

The timing is different depending on what you are preparing for. Here is exactly when to book so you show up looking your best.

The most common mistake we see is booking too close to the event. The instinct makes sense because you want to look fresh, but a spray tan the morning of is not the color you think it is. The DHA is still doing its thing. The bronzer has not settled. You would be walking in mid-process.

For most events, 24 to 48 hours before is the sweet spot. That gives everything time to develop properly, lets you get your first rinse in, and means you show up in your real color. Here is how it breaks down.

Wedding Day
Bride
2 days before
Book your appointment 48 hours before the ceremony. This gives you time to do your first rinse, let the color fully develop, and walk down the aisle in the deepest, most even version of your tan.
Bridal Party
Bridesmaids
1 to 2 days before
Same window as the bride. If you are booking the whole party together, we recommend a group session 48 hours out so everyone is in the same stage of development on the day.
Vacation
Travel
2 to 3 days before departure
You want to arrive already glowing, not developing. Book 48 to 72 hours before your flight so the tan is fully set before you hit the beach.
Photoshoot
Photos & Content
1 to 2 days before
Spray tans photograph beautifully but need time to settle. Day two or three of your tan is when the color is most even and camera-ready. Avoid shooting the same day as your appointment.
Special Event
Birthday, Gala, Party
1 to 2 days before
Whether it is a birthday, a gala, or a night out worth photographing, the 24 to 48 hour window is your ideal booking range.
Fitness Competition
Competition
Night before
Competition tans are a specific category. You typically want your appointment the evening before and develop overnight, rinsing in the morning. Talk to us about your competition requirements and we will tailor the session.

The color you walk out with is not the finished result. The real tan comes in over the next 24 hours.

A Note on Doing a Trial

If you have never had a spray tan before a major event, especially a wedding, do a trial four to six weeks out. You get to see how your skin responds, dial in the shade, and know exactly how long it lasts on you. No surprises on the day that counts.
