Spray Tan Guides
If you have never had a professional spray tan, not knowing what to expect is usually what holds people back. The whole thing takes about 30 minutes. Knowing what is coming makes it easier, so here is exactly what happens at a GCA session.
How It Works, Step by Step
1
We Arrive at You
GCA is fully mobile. We come to your home, apartment, hotel room, or venue. You do not go anywhere. We set up in about five minutes and bring everything needed for the appointment.
2
Shade Consultation
We start by looking at your skin tone, talking through your goals, and selecting the right solution and shade for you. If you have a reference photo or a specific result in mind, this is the moment to share it. We custom blend to your skin, not a one-size formula.
3
Barrier Application
Before the solution goes on, we apply a small amount of barrier cream to dry areas: knees, elbows, ankles, and knuckles, to prevent over-absorption. This is one of the things that separates a professional application from a DIY one.
4
The Application
The actual spray tan takes about 15 to 20 minutes. We work in sections, applying the solution evenly with an airbrush gun. You will be asked to move through a few positions so we can reach everything. The solution goes on cool and dries quickly. Most people are surprised by how light it feels.
5
Finishing Powder
Once the solution is applied, we finish with a setting powder that eliminates any stickiness and gives your skin a soft, matte look. You will feel completely dry when we are done.
6
Aftercare Instructions
Before we leave, we walk you through what to do next: when to rinse, what to wear, what to avoid, and how to keep the color. Everything you need to know to protect the result you just got.
Thirty minutes in. Glow for a week to ten days. Not a bad trade.
Things First-Timers Usually Wonder About
What do I wear during the appointment?
Whatever you are comfortable with. Most clients wear a bikini or underwear. Some prefer nothing. No wrong answer. Whatever makes you comfortable and gives us access to what needs tanning. Just keep in mind that wherever your clothing sits is where your tan line lands.
Will it smell?
Professional solutions have improved a lot. The DHA smell that used to be unavoidable is now minimal with quality formulas and fades after your first rinse. Some clients barely notice it. Others are more sensitive to it. Either way, it is temporary.
Is the bronzer the actual tan?
No. The bronzer is a cosmetic guide color that washes off in your first rinse. The actual tan is the DHA color developing underneath, which you will see fully after that first shower. Do not panic when the water runs brown. The tan is still there.
What if I do not like the color?
We match the shade before we start, but if something feels off, say so. We would rather fix it in the moment than have you leave unhappy. After your first appointment you will also have a much clearer sense of where you want to land, which makes every session after that easier.
